Personalised stationery
in a luxury box

Each sheet of paper or card used for these beautiful personalised stationery sets comes from UpCycled coffee cups and the result is truly amazing. Couple that with traditional embossed printing and then finish off the whole collection with August Sandgren’s sumptuous leather boxes..and well, need we say more?

The thought process behind this collaboration with August Sandgren was quite simple; how do we produce a stunning personalised stationery set on 100% sustainably produced paper which is perfect for writing on with any kind of pen and then present that in truly luxurious leather boxes?

The answer came from Natalie Wansbrough-Jones, a truly gifted fashion stylist who is on a crusade to bring sustainability and reduced consumer consumption to the forefront of people’s attention. Natalie recently co-founded Circular Threads Project (LINK TO INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT) with renowned photographer Alex Bramall (https://www.alexbramall.com/) in the hope to explore a more sustainable path for the fashion industry. Natalie benefits from having beautiful hand writing and has always been an aficionado of stationery and jumped at the chance of putting together a collaboration for Pemberly Fox, and frankly she has delivered something truly special.

Through her Circular Thread project, Natalie met Piya Andersen who is a Danish Entrepreneur. Pia is the driving force behind the Danish heritage brand August Sandgren, which was originally a book binding and box maker based in Denmark and is bringing her vision for the brand to be seen as a sustainable and durable luxury product. One of the cornerstones to her business ethos is the use of off-cut materials from the European and Fashion industries, therefore allowing her access to some of the best and most natural materials in the world which in turn reenforce the durability of the product. Simplicity is also highly important when it comes to design and and functionality of the product, reducing the complextity of the designs allows for a longer lasting product.

With this in mind we needed to find a paper that would meet the demands of Natalie and Pia and to the rescue cam GF Smith Paper merchants. Generally best know for their Colorplan range of papers, GF Smith have produced a new range of Upcycled paper made from Coffee Cups, which they have appropriately called Extract and rather than trying to describe to you the process behind it, we shall quote directly from their site:

"Extract is a pioneering paper inspired by our environment. It is a dynamic combination of chemistry and artistry that takes disposable paper coffee cups destined for landfill and transforms them into beautiful paper. With ten colours drawn directly from nature, the product is the result of a unique collaboration between consumer, recycler and papermaker. Using CupCyclingTM technology, we are taking 90% of the waste from each cup and converting it back into FSC certified paper fibre. This means every sheet of Extract in 380gsm paper contains at least five upcycled coffee cups. The remaining 10% of waste - which is plastic - will become something else entirely. It is a zero waste process, so the more Extract that gets used, the fewer cups go to landfill or incineration.”

When we tested the writing implements on the paper we didn’t need any more convincing, the paper and card delivered exactly what we had hoped it would.
