This was Michael's first year with Ferrari, a partnership that would go on to be the most successful the sport has ever seen and one which would bring Michael five world drivers titles in a row, following the two he had already won with Benetton. Unquestionably this makes him another perfect subject for inclusion in our selection of images by F1 artist Tony Regan. Schumacher is shown here in the 1996 Ferrari F310 using every inch of the track as he rides the kerb on his way to victory.
Tony starts by drawing the image using a traditional HB pencil before rendering it in gouache paint using a range of sable brushes to capture the smallest detail. Then, by using an airbrush technique for the backgrounds, he is able to give them added realism and the painting real dynamism.
We believe Tony’s original painting captures car and driver perfectly and we have reproduced it for you as a handsome greeting card.
