Jenson took his maiden win as a McLaren driver in this car as the reigning world champion in the opening round - Australian GP 2010 - making him another perfect subject for inclusion in our selection of images by F1 artist Tony Regan. Button is shown here in the McLaren Mercedes MP4/25 showing the silky smooth driving style for which he is justifiably renowned.
Initially hand drawn using a traditional graphite HB pencil, Tony then renders the image in gouache paint in a photorealistic style in which he endeavours to capture the smallest detail using a range of sable brushes. For added realism he often uses an airbrush technique for the backgrounds which helps imbue the painting with real dynamism.
We believe Tony’s original painting captures car and driver perfectly and we have reproduced it for you as a handsome greeting card.
