Fernando won his second world championship in this car after an enthralling season long battle with Michael Schumacher. He secured back to back world titles having also won the title in the previous season and he joins the other drivers and their cars in our selection of images by F1 artist Tony Regan. Alonso is shown here in the 2006 Renault R26 demonstrating the passion which made him a regular on the podium.
Tony starts by drawing the image using a traditional HB pencil before rendering it in gouache paint using a range of sable brushes to capture the smallest detail. Then, by using an airbrush technique for the backgrounds, he is able to give them added realism and the painting real dynamism.
We believe Tony’s original painting captures car and driver perfectly and we have reproduced it for you as a handsome greeting card.
